I had the privilege of stopping by a fundraiser for cancer last week. One of my students decided it was time for her to stand up for a good cause. Last summer her brother was diagnosed with cancer just about a month after his wedding. He fought and won! To help raise money for the cancer ward her brother was in, she shaved her head—not just with an electric razor as you can see, but with a straight razor. It was so invigorating to see such maturity and sacrifice in my student at an age where self-esteem and looks are part of being a teenager. She says, “It’s just hair. It’ll grow back!” Her mom was so proud–you can see the look of awe in her eyes. Thank-you for letting me capture a truly life-changing decision that you (and I) will never forget for the rest of time. (p.s. She raised over $1000 by herself and the event raised over $20,000!!)
“the before” with her sister-in-law WITH hair! “the during” with the striaght razor
“the after” with NO hair!
Her mom-so proud!
Mom is still proud….but still a typical teenager! Love the expression!
Look mom! No hair!
I love this photo because she is so proud and loving the attention.
Her and her brother!
